  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and name provided by the sign-in provider.
  • User Contributions: If you add or edit parking spot data, upload photos, or submit deletion requests, we store the content you provide along with your user ID.
  • Support Communications: If you contact us at spothk@navbytes.io, we keep the correspondence to resolve your inquiry.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: With your permission, we access your device's precise location to show nearby parking spots and calculate distances. Location data is processed on-device and in API requests; we do not store your location history.
  • Device Information: We may collect device model, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
  • Usage Data: We collect anonymised usage statistics such as screens viewed and features used to improve the Service.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Parking Data: We source parking spot information from the Hong Kong Transport Department (data.gov.hk) and other public sources.
  • Authentication Providers: Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In provide a unique identifier and, optionally, your name and email.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service, including displaying parking spots, calculating distances, and showing real-time vacancy data.
  • To authenticate your identity and manage your account.
  • To enable community features such as adding spots, editing details, and uploading photos.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To improve, personalise, and develop new features.
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication), Cloudflare (hosting and CDN), and Apple/Google (sign-in). These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
  • Community Contributions: Edits, additions, and photos you contribute are visible to all SpotHK users. Your display name may be shown alongside your contributions.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting spothk@navbytes.io. Community contributions (edits, photos) may be retained in anonymised form to maintain data accuracy.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication tokens (JWT), and access-controlled database operations. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Withdraw consent for location access at any time via your device settings.
